What exactly is Invisalign?

How does Invisalign work?
We create a customized set of aligners based on your goals. You’ll wear a new aligner every 1-2 weeks, with each plastic aligner gradually moving your teeth until you achieve a straighter, more confident smile.
How long does it take for Invisalign to straighten teeth?
This varies based on the patient, but you can estimate wearing Invisalign anywhere from 12-18 months. You will receive a more accurate estimation during your consultation.
Do I have to wear Invisalign all the time?
We recommend wearing your clear aligners all day and night, except for eating, drinking, and oral care. You’ll receive the best results this way!
Can I smoke or vape while wearing Invisalign?
We recommend that you do not smoke or vape during your Invisalign treatment. If this is not an option, you can remove the aligners to smoke or vape. However, this will most likely stain the tray, causing you to lose the ‘virtually invisible’ perk of using aligners.
Can I use Invisalign instead of braces?
It is possible to fix the most common or complex teeth-straightening issues with Invisalign. Invisalign can also be used to treat bite issues, and they can be used for just your top teeth or bottom teeth. Do you have to be a certain age to start using Invisalign?
Invisalign is an excellent treatment for both teens and adults. For a teen, we recommend waiting until all permanent teeth have grown in first, which is usually around 12 or 13-years-old. However, there are Invisalign options for little ones if they have some orthodontic issues while still having primary teeth. We can discuss more during your consultation.
How much does Invisalign cost?
The cost is about the same as braces, depending on your treatment. We’ll be able to provide an estimate after we determine how many aligners you’ll need and the length of your treatment. At Eagle Valley Family Dentistry, we do have financing options available.
Will my insurance cover Invisalign?
Many insurance companies cover Invisalign treatments the same way they would traditional braces. You can check with your employer’s benefits manager, look at your benefits package under “orthodontic treatment,” or call your insurance provider. You also may be able to pay for Invisalign with a flexible savings account (FSA) or health savings account (HSA).
